A Danville woman who is accused of stealing over $100-thousand dollars from a local assisted living facility claims she is innocent. Fifty-two year old Annette Cruea is facing charges of identity theft over $100-thousand dollars and theft over $100-thousand dollars.
The charges allege Cruea stole the money through forged payroll accounts while employed at the facility. The money was allegedly taken between January 12th and December 31st of 2015.
Danville Police investigated the case after receiving a report of forgery and theft from the local assisted living facility. The report said an employee was receiving payment through forged payroll accounts. During the investigation police say Cruea was identified as the employee responsible for forged accounts in excess of $120-thousand dollars.
During her initial court appearance Tuesday, the defendant pleaded not guilty. Her bond was set at $150-thousand dollars, and a preliminary hearing was set for later. All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless they are proven guilty.
