Illinois Farm Bureau Young Leaders Lynn Rohrscheib and Sean Arians nabbed the organization’s top awards during Agriculture Day at the Illinois State Fair.
Rohrscheib, of Fairmount in Vermilion County, was selected as the 2017 winner of the Young Leader Achievement Award. The award recognizes young farmers who derive the majority of their income from farming for their efforts in production agriculture, leadership ability, and involvement and participation in Farm Bureau and other organizations.
A member of the Vermilion County Farm Bureau Young Leaders since 2003, Rohrscheib is actively involved in her local FFA alumni chapter, and served as a district director for the Illinois FFA Alumni. She also serves as Chairman on the Illinois Soybean Association board and is involved with the Vermilion County Farm Bureau Young Leaders.
Rohrscheib raises corn, soybeans and wheat, and manages a custom application business with her parents, Vernon and Mary, and sister, Stacey.
Arians, who lives in Normal and is a member of the Woodford County Farm Bureau, was selected as the 2017 Excellence in Agriculture Award winner. The award recognizes Young Leaders who are involved in the agricultural industry, but do not rely solely on production agriculture for income, for their advocacy of agriculture, leadership ability and participation and involvement in Farm Bureau and other organizations.
Arians, a member of the of the Woodford County Farm Bureau Young Leaders since 2000, is currently serving on the Woodford County Farm Bureau board and was the Illinois State Young Leader Committee chairman in 2011. He also won the Illinois Farm Bureau Young Leader Discussion Meet in 2014 and the American Farm Bureau Federation National Discussion Meet in 2015.
Arians works as a marketing manager for The Climate Corporation and also grows corn and soybeans on a farm he rents from his father in Whiteside County.
The Illinois Farm Bureau is a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation, a national organization of farmers and ranchers. Founded in 1916, IFB is a non-profit, membership organization directed by farmers who join through their county Farm Bureau. IFB has a total membership of more than 400,000 and a voting membership of more than 82,000. IFB represents three out of four Illinois farmers.
