A Danville minister, who is well-known as one of the ‘Three Kings of Peace’, is joining the race for Illinois State Representative in the 104th District. Reverend Frank McCullough Jr. says he is anxious to tackle some key issues…including crime. ‘’Hopefully we can tackle the drug epidemic that Vermilion County has and other counties have, and here in the city of Danville. And, of course, we want to look at the economics to bring in jobs here in the city,’’ said McCullough during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News. ‘’And hopefully we can also help the city acquire money to keep officers here on our streets in the city of Danville.’’
McCullough is running for the seat currently held by State Representative Chad Hays, a Republican from Catlin. Hays announced earlier that he will not be seeking re-election.
Reverend McCullough says he hopes to be able to unite those who are in the Democratic Party in this area. ‘’There have been rumors that the Democratic Party is not unified. But I think that myself and other leaders of the community, that we can unify the party again – like I said, to make it strong,’’ said Reverend McCullough.
As one of the ‘Three Kings of Peace’, Reverend McCullough and other group members have greeted students everyday at some Danville schools and worked with staff to ensure the students succeed. Reverend McCullough says their services have been requested in other cities. ‘’We’ve been asked to come. And those particular areas are Champaign, and Rantoul, and we’ve even been asked all the way to Peoria to come. And hopefully we can sit down with the mayor, sit down with the police chief and sit down with aldermen and leaders of the communities and just train them to what we do. Because we think what we do here works,’’ added McCullough. ‘’So, if we could just help another community, I think that would be great.’’
Reverend McCullough serves at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Danville.
