THE FOLLOWING IS AN ILLINOIS HOUSE REPUBLICANS RELEASE
The Illinois House Transportation Committee today passed a Senate Joint Resolution, sponsored by State Representative Mike Marron (R-Fithian) to honor the life and public service of Senator Scott Bennett.
SJR32 designates Interstate 74 east of US 45 in Champaign-Urbana to the Indiana border as the “Senator Scott M. Bennett Memorial Highway”.
Members of the Illinois General Assembly learned with great sadness of the death of their colleague and friend on December 9, 2022. Senator Bennett joined the Senate in 2015 as the unanimous choice to fill the vacancy created when then State Senator Michael Frerichs was sworn in as the Illinois State Treasurer.
The resolution now moves on to the full House for consideration after being unanimously approved in the Senate late last month.
