Monday’s Westville Labor Day Parade marked the 107th year that participants have marched down State Street (Illinois route one) in that community. And over the years people have come to realize the parade attracts a huge crowd. So some people stake out their spot early for watching the parade.
Motorists driving through Westville since late last week have been noticing an ever increasing number of pick-up trucks parked along the parade route – with their back end toward the road. Others get out early on Labor Day to place their chairs along the parade route.
These photos were taken more than four hours before the Westville parade began on Monday.
The parade and other events over the weekend celebrating Labor Day are sponsored by the Westville Lions Club. St. Mary’s Church also plays a huge role in the weekend celebration hosting a classic car show, music and other attractions.
