The Danville City Council has unanimously approved a proclamation making this week ‘Abby Foster Week’. Abby is a 21-year-old Danville resident who is also Miss Illinois. She is representing Illinois in the Miss America Pageant and is currently in Atlantic City where the preliminaries are being held.
The proclamation points out Abby Foster first burst onto the local royalty scene in 2012 when she won the title of Vermilion County Fair Junior Miss. In 2015 she was crowned Queen of the Vermilion County Fair before advancing to the 2016 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.
It was in January of this year that Foster competed in the Miss America Organization preliminaries where she won the right to represent Danville and East Central Illinois. And then on June 17th the Oakwood High School graduate was crowned Miss Illinois.
Foster is a student at Ball State University where she is studying elementary education. In wishing her good luck, the proclamation notes that Foster should be recognized for her dedication, talents and achievements. If Foster would win the title of Miss America it would mark a first for Danville.
