A letter recently sent by Congresswoman Robin Kelly to Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr and Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates is asking the city to “work diligently to take necessary action to ensure future attacks at 600 North Logan do not occur.”
That building on Logan, the old Dillman Eye Care, is the planned future home for the Affirmative Care Solutions women’s clinic that plans to provide access to abortions. Although a recently passed Danville City Council ordinance prevents abortion related medication and medical tools to be received by mail in Danville, an amendment passed prior to the final vote makes the ordinance not valid until it is confirmed by any future court ruling. Because of this, the clinic is able to set up operations as planned at this time.

The Danville City Council Abortion Ordinance vote took place May 2nd.
On May 20th, an arrest was made on the property of Philip J. Buyno, accused of intentionally driving his car into the building; intending to cause damage and set the building on fire.
The letter from Congresswoman Kelly’s office, dated June 15th, arrived after an additional alleged incident at the property on Saturday morning, June 2nd. Danville Police have told Neuhoff Media that at 11:03 AM that day, an “alarm call” from the property, likely triggered by a motion alarm on the premises, prompted an officer to investigate the scene. At the time, no one was found. On a later date, a citizen provided a video flash drive to the police, and on that video a human being was seen. However, Danville Police have stated that it was an adult male on a bicycle, who was seen looking inside windows at the old Dillman Eye Care building, and then leaving.
Congresswoman Kelly’s letter stated that Affirmative Care Solutions “will provide critical reproductive healthcare to women, and in many cases, life-saving care.” The letter also said that “the City of Danville serves as a critical access point for women’s healthcare in the region.”
