Dozens of volunteers turned out Monday evening (September 25th) to learn how they can help with the Vermilion Regional Air Expo next weekend. Tracey Potter, organizer of the air show, says the volunteers will perform a variety of chores. ‘’I need people for ticket sales, ticket scanning, VIP hostesses, people to watch the gates for me, aircraft parking, flight-line patrol, some trash pickup – just a little bit of everything,’’ said Potter.
And Potter is excited about the Air Expo which is coming to the Vermilion Regional Airport on Saturday, September 30th, and Sunday, October 1st.
She described the show prior to meeting last night with the volunteers. ‘’It is an air expo….gates open at 10:30 on Saturday until 11:00 p.m. Our air show is from 1:30 to 4:30 each day – Saturday and Sunday,’’ said Potter. ‘’On Saturday we have bands playing after the air show from 4:30 until 11:00 p.m. There are no bands on Sunday, so our gates close at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.’’
Potter suggests you buy your tickets early. She says not only will it save you some money, but will also allow you to avoid expected long lines entering the event.
Shuttle busses will be running to the airport from the Lowes and Wal-Mart parking lots starting at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
