Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has released the identity of the man who was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle crash along Interstate 74. She says the victim is 68-year-old Francis P. Maher of Moweaqua, Illinois.
Maher was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle left the interstate near Fithian Tuesday afternoon. Illinois State Police say their preliminary investigation found the cycle was traveling east-bound when it left the road and went into the grassy median. Maher was thrown from the cycle when it struck some median wires. State Police say Maher was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Coroner McFadden says both her office and Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into the tragedy.
