The Salvation Army’s Major Jason Pollom is spending this week wrapping up four years serving Salvation Army Danville before he arrives at his newly assigned location in Moline. Pollom says Danville and Vermilion County showed him that its a very supportive area of organizations that are there to help. And that means financial, personnel, and all around commitment.
AUDIO: And sometimes when you wonder where the support’s going to come from, it comes from someplace. And most of the time, where you least expect it; in other words you don’t anticipate it and you don’t know where; and all of a sudden it comes. Danville’s got a fighting heart. It has enough fight for a lot of different people and organizations. I’m glad they fight for and with the Salvation Army.
One thing Major Jason Pollom experienced during his Danville days was the pandemic. He says he’s proud of the effort made by the Salvation Army team.
AUDIO: We didn’t close our doors. I don’t think we said no anymore than we did in the past. Hopefully we said yes a lot more during COVID than we had before. It was just a blessing to be here; a blessing to serve with a lot of great people. I’ll definitely miss this place. Like many other cities I’ve served with the Salvation Army, it will always have a place in my heart.
Major Jason Pollom will be replaced at Salvation Army Danville by Lieutenant Katherine Reid, coming to the area from Bloomington.
