Danville District 118 School Board members have approved a new $74.2 million dollar budget. The district is expecting just under $70.5 million dollars in revenues. Included in the budget is $3.8 million dollars for upgrades which have already begun at some of the local schools, such as new windows at Danville High School and asphalt improvements around the district.
Superintendent Alicia Geddis says when the state approved its new funding plan for schools…District 118 was told it would receive more state aid. But she says that is not the case. ‘’While the State said they gave us additional money, what they did was give us our regular state aid and all of the categorical grants in one lump. So the increase is the exact amount of our categoricals. So we really – if we get everything – would net just the same. There is no increase,’’ said Geddis. District 118 had been told it would get $1.8 million dollars more in state funding.
School board members last night also approved doubling the pay for crossing guards from $10 to $20 a day. And the board agreed to pay more for officials working certain sporting events.
