As VA Illiana Health Care continues to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of their serving Veterans at the VA Medical Center in Danville, a display honoring families with multiple generations of caring for Veterans at VA Illiana is now on display at the Danville Public Library. VA Illiana Executive Director Dr. Staci Williams says this shows a lot about the East Central Illinois community, and how residents have served their country in this unique way.
AUDIO: Service isn’t just service in the military. Service is also service to our country in other ways. And that’s one of the things that VA Illiana has offered throughout these generations. We’re the eighth oldest VA, so we’ve had a lot of family history that’s kind of grown up here.
VA Illiana Associate Director Richard Griffith agreed.
AUDIO: One of the things that’s unique about America is the generations of commitment to our Veterans. And we really see that here in Danville and the surrounding communities. We have so many employees that generation after generation have committed to serving those that have served our country. It’s very inspiring.
Library assistant director Jessica Augustson reminds us that loads of area family histories can be found at the Danville Public Library.
AUDIO: We have a wonderful archives facility upstairs on our second floor; where you can learn about these families that are featured here, but you can also learn about your own family, and any family in our community. And you can do some really good genealogical history; deep dive into local history.
This display in particular about the VA Illiana Health Care families will be on display until 3 PM Saturday (June 24th).
