Spectators headed to this weekend’s Vermilion Regional Air Expo will find there are many interesting things on the ground as well as in the air. The U.S. Air Force has a display regarding its Special Ops Forces. And Zachary Herrman, a civilian contractor for the Air Force, says the public is invited to check-out the ‘Air Commando Experience’..
Another ground participant in this weekend’s show is ‘The Shockwave Jet Truck’. Chris Darnell, who drives the truck, says it looks like a Peterbilt Semi – but it was built from the ground-up just to do air shows and drag races….
The Shockwave Jet Truck will be performing twice during each of the weekend air shows at the Vermilion Regional Airport according to Darnell.
Spectators attending the Vermilion Regional Air Expo can view those displays – up close – and will also be able to observe numerous aircraft up close. And if they want….spectators will be able to purchase rides this weekend on either a helicopter or airplane.
Free shuttle-bus service will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. You can catch the shuttles at the Danville Lowe’s Store on North Vermilion Street, or at the Walmart parking lot on Danville’s north side. Parking will also be available on the airport grounds. It is suggested that you take your lawn chairs along. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. with the air shows scheduled to run from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday (September 30th and October 1st, 2017).
