Promotions have been awarded to six Danville Firefighters. All six received their new oaths during Tuesday evening’s Danville City Council meeting. Assistant Chiefs Dave Milholland and Todd Spicer were officially promoted after serving for months as acting assistant chiefs. Others promoted and their new ranks include:
- Captain Tim Heinrich
- Captain Jerry Sparks
- Lieutenant Mickey Morgan
- Lieutenant Tom Darby
Each was given an opportunity to address the crowd at the city council meeting. ‘’I’ve had a lot of good officers over the years,’’ said Assistant Chief Milholland. ‘’And they really led by example and really helped mold me and shape my future into what kind of officer I was going to be. But what I would really thank are the guys that work for me,’’ added Milholland. ‘’I believe my crew, my shift, and my department is one of the best in the state – best in the country. We’re really good at our jobs. They make my job easy because they’re so good at what they do.’’
Captain Jerry Sparks noted that the Danville Fire Department is ‘’the busiest in the state.’’ But after serving 16 years on the department, Sparks said he is looking forward to 13 more.
