This weekend’s high school football game is not the only thing causing excitement in the Westville Unit 2 School District. Superintendent Seth Miller says administrators, teachers and parents are also excited about a new app that links to the district’s new website.
Miller says the app helps link parents to what is happening in the schools.
‘’We feel like if we’re wanting to engage those parents, we’ve got to reach them in a platform that they’re going to. And so, the way that we sought a solution for our website is to coordinate it with an app – that we really push out information through that app that happens to have a back-in website that follows-up with it,’’ says Miller.
The Westville Superintendent adds there is no central gatekeeper on what is posted on the District’s new website. Instead, teachers and administrators across the district can post information…..
Superintendent Miller says probably 95-percent of the district’s population is within arm’s length of their smart phone. So by pushing information through Facebook, Twitter and the district’s website they hope to engage students, parents and even grandparents in the learning process.
