A former Danville man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted on charges of Home Invasion with a Deadly Weapon. Judge Derek Girton sentenced Jessie Jackson, and also ordered Jackson to serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release following his incarceration.
Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy says the Court heard evidence that an active Order of Protection required Jackson no longer reside at the home of the victim and his mother. On November 10, 2019 Lacy says Jackson went to the home and attempted to gain entry. When the victim would not allow Jackson inside, the State’s Attorney says Jackson forced his way inside and while armed with a dangerous weapon threatened to kill the victim, the victim’s mother, and himself.
State’s Attorney Lacy expressed her great appreciation of the victim’s courage in this case…to report the incident and then remain engaged until the matter was resolved. Lacy also thanked Danville Police for their efforts in the case.
