Danville Public Works crews are nearing the end of their first pass through the city picking-up debris from the June 29th storm. Public Works Director Carl Carpenter has announced plans for handling the remaining debris.
Carpenter says crews expect to have most of storm debris collected by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27th. Crews will then begin a final pass through the city picking up the remaining piles of debris. If residents have not called to get on the list for storm debris collections by then, and/or do not have their storm debris out at the roadside by then, it will not be collected.
Also, as of Thursday (July 27th) at 4:30 p.m. the free resident drop offs to the City’s Yard Waste Site for storm damage debris will expire – and normal fees will go back into effect.
Beginning Monday, July 31st, Public Works crews will begin picking up the final remaining piles of storm debris that has been called in on normal waste collection days. Once the final pass has been completed, Carpenter says the City of Danville will no longer be collecting storm debris from the curb, and residents will be responsible for the disposal of any remaining storm debris at their own expense.
Additionally, Carpenter is urging Danville residents to recognize that because of the storm clean-up efforts, regular maintenance of streets, sewers and parks has been delayed. And he says residents who have already called in their piles should wait for 3 weeks for all yard waste collection routes to be completed before calling back about a missed collection.
