A Sunday evening (July 23, 2023) crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle has left a Danville man dead. Vermilion County Sheriff’s Captain Michael Hartshorn says the victim is a 35-year-old Danville man who was the driver of the cycle. A passenger on the motorcycle, a 38-year-old Danville woman, was taken to an Urbana hospital for treatment after the crash. Names of the people involved have not been released (as of Tuesday afternoon).
Sheriff’s Police say the crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Poland Road at county road 2050 East. Captain Hartshorn says according to witness accounts the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it attempted to pass a vehicle that was turning left. The cycle hit the left side of the vehicle, throwing both the driver and passenger off the motorcycle. The driver of the other vehicle did not require hospital treatment.
