An early morning fire in Westville (Monday) has destroyed the building housing RC Electric Company. Westville Area Fire Protection District Chief Gary Wright described what firefighters found when they first arrived there shortly before 7:00 a.m. —
And Wright adds several departments were involved in dousing the flames…
There were no injuries reported. The business is located along Illinois route one at the south edge of Westville. Police closed route one in that area and detoured traffic around the scene.
The business is operated by Robert Cope. He lives nearby and his wife says Cope had gone to the business Sunday night to check it because a powerful thunderstorm had passed through Westville. But she says the business was found to be o.k. at that time.
It is unknown if the storm might have caused the fire.
