The overall jobs outlook for Vermilion County continued to drop from the month of May to the month of June. In Danville, unemployment saw a May to June increase, after staying stable April to May.
Vermilion County’s unemployment rate increased from 5.2% in May to 5.9% in June. Vermilion County’s rate stood at 4.9% in June of 2022.
The City of Danville’s June unemployment rate came in at 6.8%, after being at 5.9% in both April and May. Danville’s rate was 5.8% in May of last year.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase of 900 jobs overall, when comparing June of 2023 with June of 2022. Looking at more specific categories; Leisure and Hospitality jobs were up by 600, Government jobs were up by 400, and Manufacturing and Transportation-Warehousing-Utilities jobs were both up by 100 from one year ago. Professional and Business Services jobs, however, dropped by 300 jobs from June of 2022 to June of 2023.
