Danville City Council members have voted to purchase a former Speed Lube site at Vermilion and Fairchild Streets. The city will pay $120-thousand dollars to buy the property which is located next door to some land the city purchased earlier from CVS and the estate of J.T. Gulick.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says the city is ‘’actively working with a developer’’ for that area. But he would not comment further. It was in August that the Danville City Council voted to pay $185-thousand dollars to purchase two properties from the Gulick estate. The purchase included the building which formerly housed Gulick Illiana Medical Equipment and Supply in the 900 block of north Vermilion Street.
This latest purchase clears the way for new development in the area along the west side of Vermilion Street – just north of Fairchild Street.
