Downtown Danville’s First Fridays Back to School Bash in August has become a tradition. And that’s everything from a chance to get backpacks, supplies and clothes for the school year; to getting wet under the fire truck sprinkler, to family fun all around. As Danville Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer mentioned; sure, it was supposed to start at 5 PM. But families were down there early, ready to go.

AUDIO: 4:30 rolled around, and we already have a line; I’m seeing there’s several hundred people downtown. I think as summer winds down this is a great way to celebrate the end of summer, and really start looking forward to school.
Jennifer from Danville agreed. She was downtown with her two youngsters, telling us the First Fridays Back to School Bash is a great way to have some fun, and wrap up summer vacation.

AUDIO: I love it. It brings the community together; gets kids used to the transition of going back to school and makes it kind of something to look forward to. This is a good way to end it.

The First Fridays Back to School Bash in Downtown Danville ran from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, August 4th.
