Although he has decided not to run for reelection in 2024, 104th District State Rep Mike Marron feels he has some unfinished business to tend to. Marron told Neuhoff Media prior to Saturday’s (Aug 5th) American Legion State Golf Tournament that pushing for economic opportunity and career education within the Danville area continues to be at the top of his list; and he hopes to be talking to Governor Pritzker and others about that real soon.
AUDIO: We are going to be having a conversation here in a couple weeks about maybe bringing resources to the area to help people who are disadvantaged get involved in some of these wonderful job training programs that we have at places like Danville Area Community College.
Marron said that while he does not agree with the governor as far as “how rosy the budget picture might look,” they are certainly able to communicate about the needs of residents in the 104th District. Marron says it’s important for the governor’s attention to be on THAT part of the state, and not always on the “northern part.”
AUDIO: I did have a really good phone conversation with him a month or so ago about the the challenges of Danville. He called to congratulate us on the opening of the casino, and things like that. I am going to continue to push him, and encourage him to come here and visit Vermilion County and Danville, and see some of the challenges that we face; help bring some attention down here where it’s really needed.
Marron stated last week that he will not be running for an additional term, choosing instead to focus on family time and the family farm.
