Police in Danville have apprehended a man wanted in connection with a northern Indiana murder. Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says 26-year-old Lajuan Fitzpatrick of Danville was arrested at a home in the 100 block of Kentucky Street at about noon on Sunday.
Thomason says Fitzpatrick was originally spotted by a patrol officer in the area of East Main and Illinois Streets at around 10:15 a.m., but fled when police tried to stop his vehicle. The vehicle was eventually abandoned by the driver who fled on foot. Thomason says a police K-9 tracked Fitzpatrick to a home on Kentucky Street.
‘’Working with the Vermilion County State’s Attorney the officers obtained a search warrant and Fitzpatrick was subsequently arrested. ‘’Through fingerprint identification the subject was identified as Fitzpatrick and being wanted for Murder and Drug Conspiracy,’’ added Director Thomason.
Fitzpatrick is being held at the Public Safety Building in Danville awaiting his return by federal authorities to Indiana.
