Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has released the name of a young woman who died Tuesday (November 28, 2017) following a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 72. He says the victim is 17-year-old Tori Lanter of Monticello, Illinois – who was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital at 5:55 p.m.
Miss Lanter died as the result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to the coroner. Illinois State Police say Lanter’s auto left the interstate and struck some guardrails, causing the vehicle to roll. Lanter was partially ejected and troopers say a passenger was ejected as the vehicle rolled. The passenger is a 20-year-old male from Allerton who was last reported to be in critical condition. His name has not been released.
The crash occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. along Interstate 72 at the Rising Road Overpass.
