Due to the extreme heat and humidity happening this week, all Danville District 118 sports practices have been moved indoors through Thursday; and games have been postponed or moved elsewhere. District 118 Athletic Director Mark Bacys says IHSA schools need to keep their eyes on the “wet globe bulb,” which weighs the different factors. And if the bulb’s cumulative number is at 90 or above, that means outdoor practices and games have to be stopped. (Scores in the high 80s, for example, requires additional water breaks and other precautions.)
Fortunately, all District 118 teams have a place to go; at Danville High School.
AUDIO: We’re pretty lucky, district wide, that we have the fieldhouse; where we can move all of our practices inside. With golf, unfortunately, you can’t do that. But everybody else is going to have the opportunity to move inside for a little while here.
