The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into a Friday crash along Interstate 74 which left one person dead and another injured. State Police say a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling westbound near the route 49 exit (at mile post 200) when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the median and rolled several times.
The driver was pronounced dead following the crash, but the Coroner’s office was withholding the name of the victim pending notification of relatives. A passenger, 51-year-old Jeffrey Crow of Oakwood, was transported to a hospital with what was described as non-life threatening injuries.
Illinois State Police say both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed. The crash occurred at 11:41 a.m. Friday.
