Hundreds of children across East Central Illinois and Western Indiana will have a nice Christmas thanks to the local Marine Corp League Toys for Tots program. On Wednesday about 550 local families ‘shopped’ for toys during a distribution event at St. James United Methodist Church in Danville.
Sherry Askren, local Toys for Tots Coordinator, says the toys are all donated…
Many area residents also pitch in – donating new toys for the program which this year will serve close to 1,300 children.
Askren notes some of the donations come from local companies…

In addition to Wednesday’s distribution at St. James United Methodist Church, Askren says others will occur on Sunday in Hoopeston, and in Covington on Tuesday. Toys for Tots will also be delivering toys to Clinton and Attica, Indiana.
