Some more key improvements are coming to Danville’s historical Fischer Theatre. The Vermilion Heritage Foundation board has selected Offutt Development, Inc. of Danville to proceed with installation of a new roof and tuck pointing.
Thom Pollock, treasurer of the board, says the hope is not to go through another winter without that work being completed. And Pollock added the board gave a 100-percent vote of confidence in Offutt Development to do the renovations.
Pollock notes that with an older building, like the Fischer, ‘’if you’ve got a roof and walls are as sound as a dollar, you can take your time on the inside work.’’ And Pollock adds work on the inside is literally ‘’at the beginning,’’ with no major work being done other than what was necessary to get a City of Danville occupancy permit so the Rocky Horror shows could be held there earlier.
Pollock noted members of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation Board all serve without pay. But he adds more money is always needed to help renovate the building. If you would like to help, donations can be mailed to:
