Organizers of this month’s Balloons Over Vermilion are celebrating this month’s successful event.
Jim Anderson, one of the co-chairs for the event, released attendance figures today (Thursday)…
Rain cut into the Saturday afternoon crowds this year, but there were three successful balloon launches this year, including the annual Splash-n-Dash flight over Lake Vermilion hosted by the Danville Boat Club.
Many families plan family reunions around the event, so co-chair Pat O’Shaughnessy has announced the dates for next year’s 4th Annual Balloons Over Vermilion….
O’Shaughnessy was asked whether there might be more balloons involved next year….

And the two co-chairmen again thanked the sponsors and volunteers who support the event. They say it would be impossible to hold the event without their support.
‘’The appreciation shown to pilots during the Pilot Parade on Friday, and throughout the community over the weekend, is unmatched at other events,’’ said Balloon Meister Joe Vincent. ‘’These thirty-three pilots and their crews look forward to our event throughout the year, and always remark about the beauty of the Vermilion County countryside and the hospitality of its residents,’’ said Vincent. ‘’Given the outstanding community response to this event, it’s not surprising that we have a waiting list of balloon pilots who would like to participate in the festivities,’’ he added.
