Vermilion County Sheriff’s Investigators have arrested a woman on preliminary charges of murder in connection with the death of a person late Wednesday. Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Hartshorn says 49-year-old Shelley A. Murphy is being held at the Public Safety Building.

Hartshorn says deputies responded to a residence in the 500 block of Vance Lane Wednesday evening on a report of a deceased person. The victim, 61-year-old Daye Lynn Murphy, had been in a physical altercation with her wife, Shelley Murphy, on Sunday, July 22nd, according to Captain Hartshorn. He says investigators determined that Daye Lynn Murphy died as the result of injuries sustained during the altercation.
The investigation is being handled by the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
Vance Lane is located west of Danville, north of U.S. route 150.
