October 1 – 31: 5th Annual Library Crawl. The Annual Library Crawl is a unique event organized by the public libraries of Illinois Heartland Library System as a fun way to introduce your public library’s patrons to the other libraries of the IHLS service area. Patrons visit area libraries throughout the month of the crawl and get a passport stamp at each library they visit. Some patrons have tried to visit every library in the crawl! Stop by Danville Public Library to get your passport stamped and get a free goodie bag.
October 16: Teen Movie Mondays: Every Monday we will show a movie in Teen Zone and have popcorn! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 – 6 PM.
October 16: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. 4:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, learn about and decorate pumpkins.
October 17: Monthly Teen Party: Come hang out for our teen monthly party! Have some snacks and play games! 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
October 17: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 4:30 PM in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
October 17: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library at 6 p.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
October 17: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Action rhymes, stories, and songs for children aged 5 and under. Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 18: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those who are new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
October 18: Rainbow Readers Playgroup. Enjoy stories, STEAM projects and socialization activities for preschoolers, ages 3-5 years, and their caregivers. Wednesdays at 10 AM- 11 AM. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 19: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
October 21: Berry Cool Market: Come join the fun and familial environment at The Berry Cool Market at the beautiful DPL park! The Berry Cool Market features weekly music by this area’s top musicians and other demonstrations, activities, and family friendly events throughout the season … and of course, our weekly, eclectic mix of art, food, and produce vendors! Saturdays 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
October 21: Children’s Saturday Movie Matinee. Join us for a family-friendly movie in the Children’s Room every Saturday at noon. Children and Tweens welcome!
October 21: Goosebumps Parent/Child Book Club. Parents, share your Goosebumps nostalgia with your kids in our Parent-Child Book Club series! This month, we’re featuring The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight by R.L. Stine. We’ll have activities and games, and you’ll get a free copy of the book to take home.1 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 21: Frankenstein’s Lab Escape Room. Adventure Arcade Escape Rooms presents Dr. Frankenstein’s Lab, a non-scary rush to find four vital body organs before they expire in 30 minutes. Organs are plush and players have some library references such as a puzzle with the Dewey Decimal System. The escape room is for people 10 and older although younger kids are welcome with a parent’s or guardian’s help. Groups are meant for 2 – 8 people. Saturday, October 21, 12 PM – 3 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room. Use the Eventbrite link to sign up! October 21: Kruger’s 4th Annual Trunk or Treat. Stop by the library as part of the Kruger ATA Trunk or Treat. Participants are invited to drive through for giveaways from 10 AM -1 PM. Don’t miss our life-sized version of Spooky Candyland too!
Teen Craft: For the month of October, the teen craft will be painting mini pumpkins! Stop by anytime during the month of October to paint one. 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM daily in the Teen Zone.
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday starting at 9 AM-6:30 PM and Fri-Sat 9 AM-2:30 PM. New craft each week!
