The VA Illiana Health Care System has opened a new Patriots Path Fitness and Walking Trail in Danville. It’s located across from Building 98 on the VA Medical Center campus.
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the path Tuesday (October 10, 2023) VA Illiana Executive Director Dr. Staci Williams said the trail will provide multiple benefits….
{AUDIO: ‘’Walking this path alone will allow personal reflection and meditation which will aid in healing and coping. And walking the path with friends, families or co-workers will enhance and maintain personal relationships.”}
Dr. Williams added….

The new Patriots Path Fitness and Walking Trail is open to VA patients and employees, along with others who care for veterans.

VA Illiana Officially Opens Patriot’s Path Fitness & Walking Trail
DANVILLE, Ill. – On Tuesday, VA Illiana hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Patriot’s Path Fitness & Walking Trail at the Danville VA Medical Center. This trail benefits Veterans, visitors, and VA employees who are looking for outdoor recreation opportunities and showcases VA Illiana’s commitment to providing high-quality care to America’s heroes.
“I am proud of the staff who made this trail possible,” said VA Illiana Executive Director Staci Williams. “Thanks to our innovative staff, Veterans, visitors, and staff can use this space to exercise or reflect surrounded by beauty and nature which can have a positive impact on their physical, mental, and emotional health.”
The trail was refurbished from an old overgrown wood chip trail. Now, this ½-mile trail promotes fitness and creates an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and promote socialization in a safe and natural setting. The event consisted of a short ceremony which featured live music, remarks by VA Illiana Executive Director, Staci Williams, and a ribbon cutting. After the ceremony VA Illiana Executive Director, Dr. Staci Williams led attendees on a one-lap walk around the trail.
