The Vermilion County All Hazards Mitigation Planning Committee will be holding a Public Comment Period on the proposed All Hazards Mitigation Plan, Thursday evening November 2nd, 5 to 7 PM, in the Vermilion County Board Meeting Room, on the second floor of the Joseph G. Cannon County Administration Building. Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency Director Russell Rudd says this will allow the committee to make any necessary adjustments before the approval process.
AUDIO: Tonight (Nov 2nd), the Mitigation Planning Committee for the county is holding a public comment period, from 5 to 7 PM, in the Council Chambers on the second floor of the County Administration Building. And this will give people a chance to review and look over our draft copy of our updated All Hazards Mitigation Plan. And they can look it over, make comments; so we can move on with it.
The plan covers all kinds of hazards that might affect the entire county; such as major storm damage, flooding, earthquakes, and numerous other possibilities. Rudd says after adjustments are made, the plan will be sent to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Upon approval by FEMA, it will return to Vermilion County for approval by all participating municipalities, as well as by the County Board. The All Hazards Mitigation Planning Committee is composed of various municipality representatives; in addition to representatives from hospitals, non-profits, and first responders.
