Two individuals have declared their candidacies for retiring GOP State Rep Mike Marron’s spot representing the 104th District in Springfield. Marron announced in July that he would be stepping down and not seeking another term.
The two declared candidates are Retired U.S.M.C. Master Sergeant and current City of Danville Code Enforcement Inspector Brandun Schweizer, and State Rep Marron Legislative Assistant and Former Village of Potomac Trustee and State’s Attorney and County Board Offices employee Marguerite Bailey.
Releases from both candidates announcing their candidacies are below. The Republican Primary Election will be March 19th.
Brandun Schweizer
Dear Citizens of the 104th District,
As a husband, father, and decorated 21-year Marine Corps veteran, I am honored to have the opportunity to represent you.
Although I have traveled around the world, Danville has always been my family’s home base, and that’s why we established our business here. My faith in God drives my desire to work toward a healthy community with honor and valor, and to have courageous conversations. Watching my sons grow up in an ever-changing, nearly unreconizable world, has made me realize the importance of conservative representation in the Statehouse.
By focusing on the issues that matter most to you, I will bring positive change and meaningful representation to every individual in our community. Together, we can build a safe and prosperous state that we can all be proud of!

Marguerite Bailey Running to Represent 104th District
Marguerite Bailey of Rantoul is running to succeed her current boss, State Representative Mike Marron of the 104th district. Rep. Marron announced in July that he will not be seeking re-election.
The 104th district includes portions of Champaign and Vermillion counties, and Marguerite has already been serving the district as a legislative assistant under Rep. Marron for the past two years. Prior to that, she worked for Vermillion County for ten years in the State’s Attorney and County Board offices. She was also elected to serve as trustee in the Village of Potomac for eight years.
“I want to continue what in some ways I have already started in serving the needs of the residents of the 104th District,” Marguerite explains, adding that she will continue the tradition of direct service and follow through set by previous representatives of the 104th district like the late Bill Black, and current Rep. Marron.
Marguerite is currently circulating petitions and will officially kick off her campaign in early December after she files paperwork with the Illinois Board of Elections.
