A Danville City Council Committee is recommending the full council help Flex-N-Gate with an $18-million dollar expansion at its Lynch Creek Drive location. The City Council’s Public Works Committee Tuesday evening approved a request to use $80-thousand dollars in Community Development Block Grant Economic Development Funds to help the company.
Flex-N-Gate announced plans earlier this summer to add 100 jobs as the plant expands in Danville. During Tuesday evening’s committee meeting Vicki Haugen, President of Vermilion Advantage, said the company plans to add 135 new jobs in Danville by 2021. The CDBG monies would be used to help reimburse the company for the installation of some new equipment. It is doubling the size of its Danville plant.
Flex-N-Gate has been awarded new contracts with Ford and Toyota to build upper and lower grilles for vehicles, and those parts will be manufactured in Danville. The parts will then be shipped to Michigan and Indiana.
The full Danville City Council will consider the request when it meets next Tuesday (October 16, 2018).
