Next Wednesday, February 7th, at the Danville Area Community College Bremer Center; area educator and school official Brenda Yoho will be having a book launch for her new publication. It’s called “Lead with Two Rules: Feeling Good and Feeling Safe.”
Yoho recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program. Her career in education started in the Georgetown – Ridge Farm District, and eventually moved on to Danville District 118. Yoho filled every job from Teaching Assistant, to Teacher, to Assistant Principal, to Principal, to Director of Education and Grant Writer. She’s also worked with the state, for the Illinois Association of Principals and Illinois Association of Title One Directors.
Yoho told Laura Williams that being part of the education team is her home.
AUDIO: I love helping leaders who are working with children, because I think children are just the most important people that we can have an impact on.
Yoho’s book “Lead with Two Rules: Feeling Good and Feeling Safe” follows the philosophy she’s always used in education. She tells everyone to be part of the “solution,” and not part of the “problem.” Just a sample of what the book says talks about students asking themselves, “if I do this, will it make me feel safe, and will it make others feel safe?”
AUDIO: It’s a blueprint for principals, and for anyone really; any leader. Even our families can take this. It helps you with being able to help children to understand the problem solving; and how to ask yourself some questions. There’s so many things that you can teach with a simple process.
Yoho will have some copies of her book available at the February 7th, 4 PM event at the DACC Bremer Center. The book is also available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Donations will also be taken at the event not only to help with the printing of the book; but also for the Danville, Georgetown, Westville, and Catlin libraries; which are all carrying the book.
