Illinois State Trooper Tracy Lillard says she is thrilled that more citizens are following her safety messages on social media. ‘’It’s been fun. It’s been interesting,’’ said Lillard as she discussed her new job as the Statewide Social Media Coordinator for Illinois State Police. She has held the position since September 1st putting out various messages for the traveling public….
Lillard adds if something serious occurs, Lillard also turns to social media….
Lillard says she has been pushing the benefits of social media with the Illinois State Police for about four years. She introduced Trooper Joseph Rush on Wednesday who has taken over Lillard’s old duties as Safety Education Officer in District 10. The district covers nine counties in East Central Illinois.
Although she loves her job sending out information on social media, Trooper Lillard warns people should not be looking at it while they are driving. She notes that in the time you look down at your cell phone your vehicle can travel several hundred feet down an interstate.
