Although twenty ash trees were earlier cut down along North Vermilion Street in downtown Danville, the area will still be decorated for Christmas. In fact, a small house was placed at Temple Plaza today awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus next Saturday (November 24th).
Bowers Tree Service is donating its services to help place lights in the remaining trees on Sunday. Colorful ribbon has already been placed around poles downtown. Carol Nichols, a member of the board of directors for Downtown Danville, Incorporated, says Santa will be available for children to visit his downtown location on all of the Saturday’s between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hours will be 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The trees which were removed earlier were taken down because of an infestation of ash borer.
Santa and his reindeer are also coming to Danville’s Village Mall Shopping Center this weekend. They are scheduled to be at the mall from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (November 18, 2018).
