This coming Sunday, April 7th, a special open house is scheduled, with tours from 1 to 3 PM, of the Dwelling Place of Vermilion County’s second temporary home for homeless families. The first one is at 119 Payne Avenue, just north of the First Presbyterian Church parking lot at 100 North Franklin. The second one, as Dwelling Place Board of Directors President Cheryl Clapp explains, will be right next door at 121 Payne Avenue.
AUDIO: Well, we are opening a second home for homeless families. It’s a temporary housing. The goal is to have the residents in for 30 days or less. And while they’re in the facility, they can save their money. And all expenses are paid while they’re in the house.
The Dwelling Place of Vermilion County is funded by grants and local donors. They also operate the Day Center, in the basement of the first Presbyterian Church. It’s open from 10 AM to 3 PM, Mondays and Fridays.
