Illinois State Police say no serious injuries were reported Tuesday when a semi tanker truck left Interstate 74 and crashed near Fithian. The 58-year-old Earlham, Iowa man who was driving the truck was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
State Police say their preliminary investigation found that the truck was traveling westbound along Interstate 74, near the 202 mile marker, when it went across both lanes, ran off the road and overturned. The truck hit a guardrail as it crashed shortly before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time. He has been cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
