[Danville, Illinois] – The Custard Cup in Danville will open for its 75th season on Friday, May 24 at 12 Noon. The Custard Cup will be open Sunday – Thursday, 12p – 9p, and Friday and Saturday, 12p – 10p.
“We decided Memorial Day weekend was the perfect time to open. It’s the official kick off for summer and what represents summer better than The Custard Cup?” said owner Andrew Seibert.
In the meantime, work is being done to prepare the building for the opening and interviews are underway for staff. “We received over 50 applications in less than 24 hours, which just underscores the community’s excitement for The Cup to open,” Seibert said.
Ongoing updates leading up to the season opening can be found on The Custard Cup’s Facebook page (facebook.com/thecustardcup).
the following is from a visit with ANDREW SEIBERT by Neuhoff Media late Friday morning, April 26th:
Q: Does opening the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend allow you to catch your breath a bit?
AUDIO: (Yes) The sale just closed finally on April 10th. We looked at a couple dates, and ultimately decided that the Friday of Memorial Day weekend was the right fit. You know, it’s the kickoff for summer. There’s not much more summer than Custard Cup, and it just felt like a perfect fit.
Q: How’s it going putting your staff together?
AUDIO: We’re excited. We’ve been in here cleaning and just getting stuff ready. We have met with all of the returning staff. And the we posted the application out this week, earlier; and we’ve already had over 100 applications.
Seibert says the new flavor he’d love to do that he mentioned before to Neuhoff Media, huckleberry, might be something to tackle next year. It’s a flavor he came across during a trip to Montana and Wyoming.
