Danville Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a 2019 murder. Twenty-nine year old Jimmie R. Rogers of Chicago was arrested Thursday after he was located in Merrillville, Indiana. Rogers is being held on $5-million dollars bond in connection with the January 12th, 2019 fatal shooting of 32-year-old William Banks of Danville.
Danville Police say Banks died inside his residence in the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive from multiple gunshot wounds. On February 1st of last year the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Rogers with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in connection with the death. Police had been searching for Banks since then. He was arrested Thursday by the US Marshal’s Service along with Danville Police and Merrillville, Indiana Police. Banks was being held in Lake County, Indiana Friday awaiting extradition back to Vermilion County.
Danville Police are reminding the public that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
