Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has announced that partial human remains found on April 11th in Indianola have been identified.
She says the victim is 31-year-old Anthony R. Rauch of Paris, Illinois. The Coroner says the identification was made through DNA analysis and an autopsy which had been previously conducted.
The death is being investigated as a homicide. The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the case. Anyone who has information that might help in that investigation is asked to call the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department or Crime Stoppers at 217-446-TIPS (8477).
It had been announced in May that results of an autopsy and DNA tests had failed to identify the person. So the Coroner’s Office entered the case into a national database for missing, unidentified and unclaimed remains. But new information received since then led to the identification of the victim who was found on private property.
