The wife of Danville High School’s head football coach says she is overwhelmed by the compassion people have shown to her while her husband awaits a heart transplant.
Tabatha Forrest says her husband, Marcus Forrest, is currently a patient at Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has completed multiple tests to determine what direction to go next.
Forrest was on WDAN’s Saturday Morning Sports Talk over the weekend and said her husband is on track to receive a new heart sometime in December or January, although she says those plans could change.
“The thing they tell us is to always be prepared and open for changes; be flexible,” she says, “Because they can always have one plan within one hour, and the next hour they change things.”
Forrest says she is grateful for the support she has received by people in the community during her husband’s hospitalization. She says she was reluctant to accept donations from others, but says many people have stepped forward.
“I did not realize that the love and support that was going to be shown to Marcus,” she says. “It’s really overwhelming, in a good way. Everybody loves Marcus. Marcus meets no strangers.”
Anyone wishing to donate money to support the Forrest family’s medical expenses can do so online via the Cash App, PayPal or Venmo, or drop off donations at First Midwest Bank or the First Assembly of God church in Danville.
