The Danville Police Department is accepting applications for the 2021 Junior Citizens Police Academy.
The program is for students in grades 7 through 12 who live in Danville and attend a local school, and have had few or no police contacts. Its purpose is to increase interaction, understanding and communication with the Danville Police Department, including through hands-on activities and up-close experiences.
Classes will be held from April 8th through April 29th in the training room at the Public Safety Building. A graduation will take place on May 6th. COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed.
Topics include a tour of the police station, interactions with police, current crime trends, patrol and a SWAT demonstration.
An application form can be found on the city’s website. They can be submitted to Danville police until April 1st.
