Danville Police are still trying to locate those responsible for two Saturday shootings – including one which left a man dead. The shootings occurred less than 10 minutes apart on separate sides of the city.
It was 10:28 a.m. when police were dispatched to the area of Franklin and Davis Streets for a report of shots fired and a possible victim. Police found two victims when they arrived, both 16-year-old juveniles who had been shot. One was treated at a hospital and released. The other was transported to an area hospital and his condition is unknown. The teens said they were walking along some railroad tracks when an unknown person or persons started shooting at them.
It was 10:37 a.m. when police were called to the 1900 block of Deerwood on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they found a 32-year-old Danville man lying in the roadway. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, but police were later notified that he had died from his injuries. The name of the victim has not been released yet by the coroner’s office (as of midday Sunday).
Danville Police are investigating both of these incidents and are not releasing other information at this time.
