Danville Area Community College has a new person joining their team this fall. The DACC Board approved this past Thursday night the hiring of Dr. Carl Bridges as Vice-President of Academic Affairs. DACC president Dr. Stephen Nacco says that makes Dr. Bridges the chief academic officer of the college, and will be serving in perhaps the most important role at the school; as he’ll be in charge of all teaching and learning, and making sure new programs are put in correctly.
AUDIO: One of his real assets over his career has been working with faculty. He’s taught, so he knows it from that end. But also in being in academic management: helping faculty develop a program from the germ of an idea, to something that passes both state and accrediting credentials, so it can become a viable program, based on everything you need to do.
Dr. Bridges has been working at Midwest Career College in Chicago, and also spent some time at Kennedy-King as well as some of the for-profit schools in the Chicago area. But he was a University of Illinois student at one time, and Dr. Nacco says, he’s looking forward to getting back downstate.
AUDIO: His old stomping ground, as he says. A U of I grad, knows Champaign; even though he’s been a Chicago resident for quite a while, likes Danville, likes the area, and is looking forward to living here.
Dr. Bridges’ first day with DACC will be November 1st.
