Rubber Ducky Readers: Beanstack Challenge started March 1! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
April 29: Teen Movie Mondays. Every Monday we will show a movie in Teen Zone and have popcorn! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 – 6 PM.
April 30: Teen Tabletop Tuesdays. Stop by the Teen Zone on Tuesdays to play board/card games and eat snacks! Tuesdays from 4-6 PM in the Teen Zone.
April 30: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
April 30: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 1: The Consult. An opportunity for your business to get advice over coffee from a consortium of business leaders; both current and retired, willing to share their knowledge. People from all over the business community are inviting you to engage them for advice in a relaxed atmosphere. No pressure, no sales pitch, just a resource for you to access, absolutely free. Starts at 8:00 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 1: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10 AM- 11 AM. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 1: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
May 1: Team STEAM. Activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 1: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
May 2: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
May 2: Family Bilingual Storytime. Join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English—Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
May 3: Taylor Swift Eras Tour Experience. Join us as the Eras Tour comes to life in the Danville Public Library! This event will be happening as a part of Danville’s First Fridays. What is a sporting event without the pop star’s performance? All Ages, 5 pm – 8 pm.
May 4: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Teen Craft: Stop by the Teen Zone during April to celebrate National Poetry Month with a creative writing exercise! Write your own poem on our chalk wall in Teen Zone! During May, we will be making friendship bracelets! Monday-Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily in the Teen Zone.
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday from 9 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 9 am-2:30 pm. New craft each week! This week: Dragonfly.
