Description of Structure/Property: 1-story, wooden framed home (Vacant)
Alarm Location/Address: 216 Grace Street
Description of Incident:
Danville firefighters were called to respond to a house on fire in the 200 Blk of Grace Street. Upon arrival firefighters found a 1-story wooden frame structure fully involved. After extinguishing the initial main body of fire, firefighters performed a search of the building, no one was located.
The home was considered vacant, but neighbors had reported to fire crews that people are frequently coming and going from the building. It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The heat from the building was so intense that a nearby neighbor’s house also suffered damage to their home.
The fire is under investigation. The Illinois State Fire Marshal was called in to assist Danville Fire Investigators with that investigation. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Danville Fire Department at (217) 431-2350.
Ameren electric disconnected the power at the pole and Ameren gas verified that the gas was turned off prior to the fire.
Fire Units Cleared: 3:54 PM
Fire Cause: Under Investigation.
Injuries: No injuries were reported.
Smoke Alarm Status: No working detectors present.
Estimated Dollar Loss: $ 21,500.00
